The

Digital Sexual Health+Wellbeing
Research Collective

Technology is changing our sexual behaviour.

Big Tech. AI. Porn platforms. Dating apps.

We investigate the technologies shaping people’s sexual lives.

DISH is The Digital Sexual Health + Wellbeing Research Collective.

We bring together computer scientists, sociologists, psychologists,
and scholars in sexuality, digital health and critical AI + data studies.

To keep critical pace with the technologies that impact
how people love and have sex.

How do the technologies we use every day impact our sexual health and wellbeing?

Sexual health and wellbeing are key to positive mental and physical health outcomes,
and a major indicator of happiness and equality in society.

Now, algorithms shape how people form relationships.
Big Tech has a growing control over populations’ access to sex education.
AI and app ecosystems affect mental health and population-level loneliness.

DISH establishes a community of researchers to address urgent real-world challenges related to technology and sexuality.

How is your digital sexual health?

Does your dating app or porn use ever feel tiring or compulsive?

How connected do you feel to your body?

Are your technologies improving your sexual self-esteem and relationship satisfaction?
Or are they making you feel worse?

We want to use technology,
not have technology use us.

The Consent Lab

The Consent Lab is a major ongoing project at DISH. It delivers evidence-based consent education to UK university students.

Consent Labs take back technology by using data as an art form. Students explore their experiences with sexual consent, and uncover patterns in their feelings and beliefs.

The Labs produce outstanding and measurable results and are now being developed into a consent curriculum for the whole UK Higher Education sector.
